Kathryn Lopez has a good piece about male irresponsibility here; a reader strikes back here. I have to say that the reader makes the more compelling point. Men do much of what we do for/about/in relation to women. If women don’t need us or want us, that’s OK - but then, they should give up expecting that we’re going to behave in ways that they find acceptable. Some women definitely have a have-my-cake-eat-it-too attitude here; they want a man to behave with chivalry, responsibility, and commitment, but they don’t want to do any of the things that would justify someone making that kind of relational investment in them.
