When I was doing 8th grade American History/Civics ten years later, we had to know the same sorts of things — all the cabinet positions and holders, all the Supreme Court, all the parts of the Constitution, and we had to be able to identify major holdings of about 10 landmark Supreme Court cases to boot. Now I think we’re fortunate if eighth graders have even heard there’s a Constitution.
