Colorado Springs Tax Day Tea Party – April 15 2010
Fight the Power, Health Care April 15th. 2010, 2:23pmLovely day. Many speeches, tirades, prayers, invocations, blessings, pledges, singing of patriotic songs. Didn’t spot any racism, but did find a food vendor or two. If there were any infiltrators or agents provocateur about, I didn’t see them. (I’d make a bad spy.) Signage was somewhat subdued compared to past events – it did feel like people were holding back for fear of being considered racist. My wife says there was a woman in a Statue of Liberty costume but I somehow missed that. It was a fairly big crowd – I would guess a couple thousand all told.
Took a few pictures, enjoyed the nice people, look forward to this November. There were a few counterprotestors, but none interesting enough to intentionally photograph.

Dear Bob,
One of my students alerted me to the fact that I’m in one of your Tea Party pictures from Tax Day. I’m humbled.
Interesting how my students, staff, parents, and I attended Thursday’s rally. I’m the principal and a co-founder of Life Academy in Monument. Life Academy is basically a Christian, conservative alternative to area public middle and high schools. I thought it would be interesting to have a voluntary field trip for those conscious of our current dire national landscape.
Feel free to visit our website at http://www.ourlifeacademy.com to learn more about this unique educational experiment. Perhaps it will resonate with you. If you wish, feel free to contact me at the above email or the various ways listed at our website.
I’m glad you chose to photograph the “happy-faced patriot.”
Respectfully,
Paul Palmisano, Principal
