Business Consulting
My primary assets as a consultant are an exceptionally keen and incisive mind, a fearless commitment to the truth, and a genuinely exceptional ability to communicate my findings in a way that my clients and their stakeholders can understand and believe in. I have strong subject matter expertise in software development, databases, software quality, Internet content, web site development, MMOs, social media, and organizational development.
In my many years in the software development industry, I saw literally dozens of consultants come and go. Many were bright and wanted to be helpful; a few were con artists trying to make a fast buck. Very few were effective at creating any type of positive change in the organization that had hired them. I believe that the reason for this is that most people hire consultants to fix a mistake, hide a problem, or give the impression that something is being done. There’s nothing wrong with fixing mistakes, but organizations that use consultants to mask problems or fool their stakeholders are wasting their time and their shareholder’s money.
In order to avoid that problem, before I start any consulting project I need to speak one-on-one with the relevant individual in the organization who is spearheading the initiative I’m being asked to be part of. This might be the CEO, it might be an IT manager, or it could be a line employee in a production unit; what’s important is that I am able to receive a clear understanding of what is really needed, and provide a clear communication of what exactly I can do to help. I do not charge for this initial consultation, which can be done by telephone or in person. You can schedule your free consultation anytime by sending me e-mail or calling at 719-302-2237.
