1. What are your personal beliefs?

My personal beliefs are fairly complex and possibly interesting to people who like that sort of thing. You can read more about them (at least the parts I’ve blogged about) in great detail in the blog entries indexed in the right sidebar. In general my personal philosophy informs but is not highly relevant to my business philosophy, and I make it a point to separate my personal life from my work. I work for and with Christians and atheists, liberals and conservatives, Alliance and Browncoats. I am mostly interested in how challenging someone’s business problem is – not who they voted for or what interest groups they agree with.

2. How much do you charge?

For individual projects, I work on a retainer basis with an hourly rate that I set individually for each client. The rate varies considerably but there are two primary parameters: the difficulty, intensity, and/or unpleasantness of the specific tasks that you are asking me to do, and the level of challenge and interest posed by the business problem you are asking me to solve. If you know what you need from me, I can always give you a firm hourly quote at the conclusion of our introductory interview.

The base retainer block is five hours of time. You may retain me for any amount of time you wish above that. I do not work on lawyer time; if I bill you for one hour, it is because I have worked hard on your project for one hour. Communication time beyond brief status messaging is billed.

For training sessions, motivational speaking, and seminar leadership, I work on a flat project fee basis plus expenses. I can generally do one half-day session, speech or seminar per day. The rate for this type of work starts at $750 per half-day. I always have a number of strong seminar curricula in development or ready to deploy on various business topics; please query with your field of interest.
